A special moment in Côte d’Ivoire as Secretary General, John Omo, was honoured for eight years of leadership at the helm of the Union and his contribution to Africa’s digital transformation.
The honour was conferred by the Hon. Minister Djibril Ouattara of the Ministère de la Transition Numérique et de la Digitalisation, in the presence of dignitaries and representatives from more than 20 African countries.
As his tenure as Secretary General approaches its conclusion at the end of 2026, delegates reflected a journey shared with African Member States and partners and the progress made together under his stewardship.
Warm tributes also came from other countries, among them Iraq, whose delegation hailed Mr Omo for his excellent performance and for leaving behind a vibrant Union. The Iraq delegation was led by Dr. Ali Al Khwaildi, President Of Iraqi Association for Information & Communications and Technology.
